چکیده

The ability to predict the performance of a simulationapplication before its implementation is an important factor to the adoption of parallel simulation technology in industry. Ideally, a simulationist estimates the inherent parallelism of a simulation problem to determine whether it is worthwhile to invest resources to carry out a parallel simulation. In this paper, we proposed an analytic method for predicting the simulation parallelism of a simulation problem that is independent of implementation details. We assume that the system to be simulated is modelled as a network of logical processes, and each logical process models a queuing server center. Unlike many analytic models reported in the literature, we consider the causal relations among events in a simulation. Causality effects reduce event parallelism. Our proposed analytic method gives a tighter upper bound on performance speedup. Validation experiments show that our analytic prediction of simulation parallelism differs from that of critical path analysis by 2.9% and 18.8% in open and closed systems respectively.

Analytic Performance Prediction of Track-to-Track Association with Biased Data in Multi-Sensor Multi-Target Tracking Scenarios

An analytic method for predicting the performance of track-to-track association (TTTA) with biased data in multi-sensor multi-target tracking scenarios is proposed in this paper. The proposed method extends the existing results of the bias-free situation by accounting for the impact of sensor biases. Since little insight of the intrinsic relationship between scenario parameters and the performa...

Analytic Tests for a Robust Numerical Algorithm for Predicting Semiconductor Freeze-out and Exhaustion

In this report a complete analytic description for the temperature dependence of the majority carrier in a single impurity doped equilibrium semiconductor is proposed. This model should provide an attractive alternative to commonly used rules predicting the temperature boundaries for the exhaustion regime. This model is used to provide a confidence test for a less restrictive robust numerical m...

MOBY: An Architecture for Distributed Expert Database Systems

In thii paper, we consider MOBY. a distributed architecture to support the development of expert database systems in a rule based language. It combines standard indexing and horizontal data partitioning techniques with a rule based interpreter to achieve the reasonable performance. The major difficulty in developing this architecture is to maintain a high effective parallelism as the number of ...
